Get creative this Fall with craft activities.
‘Tis the season for all things family. From holidays to back to school events, autumn is the time when you get to enjoy connecting with you children. With the darker nights and cooler temperatures, your children won’t be spending as much time in the great outdoors. Because of this, parents should look for new and exciting ways to get their kids learning, creating, and having fun!
This autumn, try these crafts that will get you into the spirit of the season as well as inspiring creativity in your children.
Fall wreath. Instead of buying an overpriced autumn leaf wreath, make one! Go outside with your children and encourage them to collect a handful of leaves, pinecones, and twigs to glue onto a circular base. Parents, you should be in charge of the gluing, but encourage your child to place all of the items beforehand! What’s more, you’ll get a homemade wreath for your front door.
Autumn tree. Repurpose old magazines by finding and cutting pages with fall colors to make a collage for your fall tree. Look for yellows, golds, oranges, reds, and browns to add to the tree. Once you’re done, you can hang it around the house with pride – and to bring some autumn inspiration into the home!
Favorite scene. Gather all sorts of textiles from felt to paint to sequins to felt tip pens. Then, ask your child what autumn means to them. Once they have an answer, encourage them to recreate a picture of this scene using all sorts of textures and methods. It could be a fall scene of leaves on the ground, your family around the table at Thanksgiving, or Halloween night!
Pumpkin carving. It wouldn’t be autumn without Halloween! Head to your local pumpkin patch to pick one out, then take it back home to carve it into a spooky or silly face with your child!
