Keep Your Kids Active During the Winter
Keeping kids active during certain times can be a daunting task. While it’s so easy to stay inside during the winter and when it rains, there are so many benefits to getting active and going outside. Thankfully, we’re blessed with year-round sunshine in California, so there isn’t too much of an excuse to not enjoy these winter activities!
Take Nature Walks
Put on coats, hats, and gloves and head outside. Show your child what the beach looks like in wild weather or visit gardens when the plants are all wet and glossy. Simply enjoy the outside and the scenery!
Set Up a Scavenger Hunt
Take your child to the nearest park and look for interesting-looking twigs, leaves, and stones. Identify plants and wild birds to teach your child about the local wildlife.
Visit an Indoor Play Center
Keep your child active when the weather outside is bad by taking him or her to an indoor swimming pool. Trampoline center, ice-rink or bowling alley.
Get Gardening
The garden can a wonderful sensory experience for kids in winter, especially on cold and dry days. Let your children dig holes in the soil for planting and then head down to the garden center so they can choose their own bulbs.
Get Active
Just because there’s a chill in the air doesn’t mean you can’t get outside for a bit of exercise! Children will enjoy the sporty challenges that will bring a rosy glow to their cheeks. Whether it’s soccer, tennis or running, you can help your child get active in winter.
